What is a pharmacy on duty?
Farmacia Vegas, at Av. Schulz, 40-42 (El Llano, Gijón), is open every day of the year from 9:00 to 21:00: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and long weekends, without closing at midday. During the day there is no need to look for the pharmacy on duty: if it is between 9 and 21, we are open.
In Asturias and most of Spain, "farmacia de guardia" and "farmacia de turno" mean the same thing: the pharmacy on the rotating out-of-hours rota assigned by the Official Association of Pharmacists of the Principality of Asturias.
Farmacia Vegas takes part in that rotating rota: periodically it is our turn and that day we stay open until 22:00. The rest of the year we offer a long, fixed timetable, the same 365 days a year: if you are looking for a pharmacy open today in Gijón, whether it is a Sunday, a public holiday or a long weekend, between 9:00 and 21:00 there is always a pharmacist here.
